Citizens’ Voices Minutes

May 30, 2007

Present: Tom, Mike, Dave, April, Jeanne, Tim, Malda

The first order of business was the installation of the new chair. Last December we elected Tony to be the chair until the end of the Spring semester. Then Tom was to become chair. Tom could not attend regularly until this time as he thought an 8:00 am class. Unfortunately, now Tony is teaching an 8:00 class.

We discussed the presentation of the benchmarks by the Urban Studies students. The consensus seemed to be that although they made interesting observations, their presentations did not directly relate to the earlier benchmarks researched some years before. Perhaps their written reports did so.

Tony, can you add to the students presentation, please.

We reviewed the pending projects.

The Regional Forum is functioning beautifully. The presentations are interesting & well attended. Thank you Dave.

The next presentation will be on June 21, the 3rd Tuesday, on the achievements of the '07 legislature. Only the Representatives will present the program.

The July presentation will be conversations on immigrants & education.

A forum will NOT be held in August.

Mike updated us on the activities of the "memory project". A new weekly oral history project will be starting on KMSU. It will be an hour long program.

There is now a recording room at the BE county historical society.

The future of the YWCA and the Cray Mansion is not clear. Perhaps there are things that CV could do to facilitate our interests in the building and a healthy Y.

The next meeting is at 7:30 am at the Coffee Hag on Wednesday, June 13th.
