Citizens’ Voices Minutes

August 8, 2007

Present: Malda, Tom, Mike, David E., Tony, Dave B., Jeanne

What an adventure we had today! I arrived early at Coffee Hag to discover a note on the door, Today we will open at 8:30. Shortly afterwards Tony (on bicycle), Tom, Mike & David E. also arrived. We made a decision that we would adjourn to the Wagon Wheel. Since the Hag's sign was taped to the outside of the door, Tom added a message on the bottom where we were going.

We get there to discover that it is closed for vacation. (Tony arrived about the same time as the rest of us in cars.) We then decided to go to the Fillin Station. Tom wrote a message on a sheet the stuck it in the door & we were off.

Amazingly Dave B. & Jeanne found us there. Our apologies to others who got lost on the way.

Echoes From the Valley - a great start with the meeting at Laurel's Edge.

The residents were very interested and 12 volunteered to be interviewed.

Many thank you's to the management who prepared the residents for the visit.

This first set of interviews would not happen without the active support of the management of the facility.

These people have wonderful stories, though with time strictly speaking they may not be completely true. If they are not, they are so good they should be.

(A Dakota medicine was teaching the boys the tribe's history from creation.

He told them that he might not have all the facts right but the story is

true.)

These interviews will be the subset,  Echoes From the Edge.

Wayne sent out a great e-mail with pictures & tips on picture taking. Thank you Wayne.

The web site is MNSU.edu/echoes.

The archiving issues is not yet completely resolved. Mainly the format and the process remain to be finalized.

Mike, David & KMSU will meet one more time to each consensus on the name.
