Citizens’ Voices Minutes
May 5, 2006
Present: Malda, Tony, Dave,
Bill, John, Anne
Note the next meeting on May
19th will still be at 7:30. After that we hope to go to 8:00 am meetings.
We discussed the financing
of Regional Forum. Tony thought that URSI could act as the fiscal agent for it.
He will talk to Rita about absorbing the work. Most granting organizations
require that the recipient have a fiscal agent.
Bill got a resounding negative
response to our request to fast track the discussion of the Valley. That is, we
were proposing to take it out of the deliberative process of Envision 2020
because of what we perceived to be an emergency due to the County's decision to
move the legal activities to the edge of town. This would involve the departure
of about 90 employees.
We discussed pursuing other
possible activities that might be attracted to the vacated space including some
aspect of MSU. More discussion to continue.
Instead of having a meeting
on "The Valley", perhaps we should hold meetings within neighborhoods
of the neighbors. If people got to know each other, they might invest in
additional maintenance as well as assisting each other.
We also need to discuss the
continuation of Citizens Voices. What should be our role during the Envision
2020 process? What should we work on afterwards? Is it time to involve people
on the Board who have not been involved for all these oh so many years?
