Citizens’ Voices Minutes

June 2, 2006

Present: Tony, John, Bill, Anne, Kristi, Malda

Envision 2020 - Derek had told the steering committee that after the exercise that he leads is over, there are two models to carry on the work.

Ones is to form a non-profit while the other is to house the activity within an existing organization. The first generally fail. After some discussion, we thought that housing it as a separate activity within the Chamber would provide the greatest likelihood of success.

Derek had also suggested that Envision 2020 be organized for 5 years. At the end of that time the group would make an assessment as to the need to continues. If the group wished to renew itself it would do so for another 5 years.

More immediately, do we wish to continue & for what purpose? Citizens Voices should do nothing to confuse or get in the way of the work of Envision 2020.

At the present time we have tow ongoing projects, the Regional Forum & the Rasmussen Woods group.

The community seems to have a need for trained facilitators to run meetings.

Is this a project that we would like to do for ourselves or start it as another ongoing project? What else do we wish to become involved in?

We developed a list of names to contact for membership in Citizens Voices steering Committee. Those people will be invited to a meeting at the YWCA at our regular meeting time on Friday, June 30.

At the next meeting we need to set the agenda for that presentation to the invited individuals. It must have a vision and a purpose in order to attract these new members. This may be one of the most important meetings of our group. Please consider the purpose of our group and think of additional activities that are needed in our community.

We meet at the Cafe Hag at 8:00 am on Friday, June 16th.
