Citizens’ Voices Minutes

Present: Tony, Shelly, John, Malda

Next meeting is Friday, August 4th, 8:00 am at the Coffee Hag.

We had excellent conversation on selecting the activities on which we should focus in the foreseeable future. We are determined not to conduct activities that might interfere with or muddy up the Envision 2020 work.

Two equally desirable & doable activities were determined.

1. Becoming facilitators or providing facilitators for meetings. Those doing the activity would need to be trained in "civic dialogue".

2. Dave Engen's idea of people telling community stories. Among topics might be immigrants of the 19th century & another on immigrants of the 21st.

Mankato POWs of WWII as well as a story on what happened in Mankato during the same war. The ideas kept popping up.

Perhaps we could film & audio tape the stories so that they could be used on KMSU, on CCTV as well as the print media.

For the next meeting please bring with you the minutes of the June 16th meeting, July 14t meeting as well as the list of possible new members of our group that Tony sent out. We will need to do quite a bit of planning.
