Mission

The mission of Citizens’ Voices is to engage a broad range of citizens in education, discussion of issues, and  community problem-solving in a proactive, positive manner.

 

What Citizens’ Voices Does

  • Convene people around community issues
  • Gather information and Best Practices on community issues
  • Share findings with the community and policy makers
  • Use the internet to share Best Practices and report local findings
  • Practice (and model for others) common courtesy

 

How Citizens’ Voices Does This

  • Interactive Methods
    • Advisory Committee Meetings (3 so far)
    • Round Table Discussions
    • Active work groups focused on issues (economic development, public/private partnerships, communication and engagement, the environment)
    • Focus Groups
    • Community Forums (like the February series on the nonprofit sector)
  • Information Gathering/Sharing Methods
    • Best Practices and literature reviews
    • Web based surveys (current survey on local economic development)
    • White papers
    • Information and findings posted on web site
    • Community Forums

 

The Role of Citizens’ Voices Advisory Committee Member

  • Participate in Citizens’ Voices advisory committee to identify issues
  • Bring information and share your perspective
  • Share what you learn with others in the community
  • Participate in the information gathering process through a specific work group
  • Participate in Citizens’ Voices events or co-sponsored events
  • Encourage people to use the information on the Citizens’ Voices website
  • Encourage people to get enough information to fully understand issues
  • Practice (and model for others) common courtesy in communicating with others, particularly during disagreements
